For the auspicious occasion of the Inauguration of the Tubman Institute for Research on the
Global Migration of African People, a portion of the ROAD TO FREEDOM concert was
performed by Bryan & Shannon Prince, Denise Pelley, Stephen Horowitz, and the
Karen Schuessler Singers.

On September 19th to September 26th, in honor of the countless children, women and men
who have perished walking to refugee camps in hope of salvation we will be walking from
Toronto to Ottawa to raise funds for famine relief.

Hon. Dr. Jean Augustine holds a Bachelor of Arts, Master of Education and Honorary
Doctor of Laws degrees from the University of Toronto. Before entering politics, she was an
elementary school principle in Toronto. In 1993, Jean became the first African-Canadian
woman elected to the Parliament of Canada and subsequently the first black woman in
a federal Cabinet. She currently serves on many boards and community organizations.
