International African Inventors Museum curated by Francis Jeffers celebrated Black history Month at Humber College with the Centre for Human Rights, Equity and Diversity.
Mitzie Hunter, MPP, Scarborough - Guildwood gave the Black History opening remarks.
The Centre for Human Rights, Equity & Diversity made a special presentation to Hon. Dr. Jean Augustine, recognizing and honouring her contributions towards enabling the month of February being proclaimed Black History Month in Canada in 1995.
The International African Inventors Museum was founded in 1988. Originally emphasizing the contributions of African Americans, it has since taken on a more international focus to include African Canadian, African British, African Caribbean and Continental African Inventors. The exhibit displays items that can be found in our everyday living, to inventions that highlight medical advancements and high-technological developments from the African/Black communities – Nancy Simms M.A.
