JOE SEALY’S AFRICVILLE STORIES & A SALUTE to MOTOWN honouring HON. JUSTICE MICHAEL H. TULLOCH, ONTARIO COURT OF APPEAL

Toronto, ON – February, 15, 2013 – JPEC - Jazz Performance and Education Centre - www.jazzcentre.ca - announces the JPEC Lincoln Alexander Memorial Scholarship. JPEC celebrates Black History Month on Saturday, February 23 at 8 pm (VIP hour 7pm) at The Toronto Centre for the Arts, 5040 Yonge Street. The musical narrative weaves the stories of Joe Sealy’s Juno award nominated, Africville Suite, and the music of Motown
Gala Highlights: Guest of Honour, the Honourable Justice Michael H. Tulloch is the first African-Canadian to serve on any provincial court of appeal. His appointment is a milestone for the black community and for Canada. 
 Joe Sealy performs “Africville Stories” featuring Jackie Richardson, Paul Novotny, Mark Kelso and John Johnson.
Just announced, Russ Little and Michael Stuart will be joining a salute to Motown with world-renowned and award winning Jazz musicians and vocalists, SOUL STEW, Toronto’s legendary R & B, soul, jazz, band: Musical director Roberto Occhipinti is joined by Alana Bridgewater, Michael Dunston, Kervin Barreto, David Gray, Joaquin Nunez Hidalgo, Matt Horner, John Johnson, David Gray, Mark KelsoRuss Little, Michael Shand and Michael Stuart.

Audiences of all ages and backgrounds will be dancing in the isles to songs of Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Spinners, Gladys Knight, The Supremes and more. Net proceeds will benefit children’s outreach programs and future events.“The audience will be on their feet dancing” -- Rochelle KoskieGala Chair

Founded by Raymond and Rochelle Koskie and officially incorporated in 2008, the Jazz Performance and Education Centre (JPEC) is an organization of business people, musicians and arts professionals. These passionate individuals recognized the need for a full time jazz venue in Toronto.
